Resident and Loved One

New Relatives Peer Support Group for Dementia

At Manor Grange Care Home, we have organised a new informal group where relatives can meet each other in a relaxed area of the home and share hints, tips, and ideas with each other on how they cope with loved ones living with dementia care at Manor Grange and how they can enhance their visits with loved ones.

The idea was born after a relative asked at a recent relatives meeting about what support could be offered to help them understand more about dementia and how to cope with it. We also understand how it is quite overwhelming to be a new relative within the home, not knowing who to talk to for various problems, what they are “allowed” to do or go to, and what boundaries there are in the home.

This new group meeting will benefit relatives, residents & staff when relatives are more informed about Dementia and the journey they have been on, as well as hearing ideas/suggestions on how they can enhance their visits to be more fulfilled for both them and their loved ones. They will also feel better about knowing how to support their loved ones in the best way possible, become more comfortable within the home and be able to get the answers to the questions they may have.

If you have a loved one with Dementia living at Manor Grange, we invite you to come along to the new Relatives Peer Support Group for Dementia, where you can meet with other relatives and share experiences, receive helpful advice, tips, useful contacts information on coping with and understanding Dementia, and all while you enjoy a cuppa.

The first Relatives Peer Support Group for Dementia will be held on Saturday 26th August at 11am in the Manor Grange Library.

Please RSVP to Maureen by emailing activities@manorgrangecare.co.uk. We look forward to seeing you there.
