Residents Enjoy Barge Trip

Barge Trip Down River

We are delighted to have barge trips return from the Seagull Trust. We have been able to enjoy three barge trips in recent weeks, running from Ratho to Almondelle Viaduct which included a picnic lunch.

It was wonderful to see the beautiful sights from the boat once more. This trip down the canal always provides a tranquil atmosphere through the trees and still water.

We have been lucky with the weather and everyone loved being out on the boat and in particular spoke about the local wildlife they had seen as well as the stunning scenery.

Eliza was presented with a certificate for her efforts at steering the vessel, she was rightly very proud.

Some of our residents decided to sit up front, away from the shelter to get a true sense of being at one with nature as well as get the best view of the canal.

We regularly organise exciting trips out of the home for residents to see new sights and gain new experiences, especially as we are lucky to live in a beautiful place such as Edinburgh.
